Meet Jess, one of our borough-based apprentices working on the Fettlers project, who began her Building and Services Coordinator apprenticeship with Galliford Try in September 2024. Since starting, Jess has been balancing hands-on, on-site experience with her college studies, attending college one day a week alongside her role.
Jess’s journey is a great example of how there’s more than one pathway into a successful career. After completing her A-levels, she took time to think about what would suit her best.
That decision led her to an apprenticeship where she can actively contribute to the Fettlers project while developing real-world skills. Working on site has allowed Jess to learn directly from experienced professionals, build her confidence, and gain a deeper understanding of how building and services coordination works in practice.
Jess’s apprenticeship will run over two years, giving her the opportunity to continue developing her skills and knowledge as the project progresses. Looking ahead, she hopes to progress her career with Galliford Try, building on the strong foundations she’s already creating through her apprenticeship.
Seeing young people like Jess gaining valuable experience, growing in confidence, and shaping their futures on the Fettlers site is incredibly rewarding. It reflects the importance of investing in local talent and creating meaningful opportunities that support long-term career development.
And this is just the beginning – there’s plenty more to come from Fettlers as we continue to support apprentices on site.
